﷽
Peace be upon you and hi everyone.
I would like to apologise for not being able to update this entry on time. Sumimasen! I was extremely busy with assignments (and open houses) for last week.
Okay anyway, this entry is going to be about how I experienced Yayasan Khazanah Scholarship interviews since early of this year, up until last month. It is kinda similar to the previous year's assessments I think. But for my part, the ending is quite bizarre. Erm 🤔
Let's get started!
APPLICATION STAGE
WARNING: This is not even the first stage of the interview yet.
Basically in getting any scholarships, we will have to apply for it right? 'Cause if not, nobody will knows about you and all your achievements and everything. So the first thing you should do is to be alert with the opening date for the application. Please note it down and set your reminder or do whatever it takes to not forget about it. If not, you have lost one golden opportunity dude!
While applying, you will be required to provide personal details and all those typical things that the sponsor need to keep in record. After that easy pitzy part, then there comes the essay 😈
For my time, we were asked to write 1000 words essay regarding the reason why we choose that particular course, what can we contribute to the nation, why do you think you deserve the scholarship something like that. I suggest you write the essay in Word first and then you click the next button. Because if I'm not mistaken, it will be timed. Do your research and sit back, figure out what makes you choose the course or what makes you valuable to Khazanah or what ever that you need to figure out about yourself. Just think. Okay? And don't forget to jot it down if not, I bet you might forget all those points you just found out.
Then, submit. And wait for their reply.

This is suffocating I know. But worry not, more suffocating moments are coming! Muahaha.
FIRST STAGE
In this stage, I received an email, that required me to complete two tasks which are Logiks Numerical (Advanced) and Logiks Verbal (Advanced). There are some instructions stated in the email to guide us in undertaking the assessments. For this stage, I referred to this website for practise; LOGIKS .
You guys can go to the website and try those tests from there. At least, it can give you some views about how the real tests are going to look like and how hard and unexpected it can be 😛
This task for the first stage is quite flexible since candidates were given a week to complete it. What you need to do is to choose the best day that you think you are free enough to sit the test qnd the best place that you can get stable wifi and no one is there fighting with his girlfriend on the phone (which happened to me since I took the test in my college's computer lab and there's this one guy so noisy I feel like killing him haha)
In my case, I managed to complete the verbal part within the time limit given for the test but I did left two questions for the numerical one. Rip me. SOS.
So all of you who will soon take this test SHOULD NOT do like that. Okay? Promise me. Oh and don't forget blank paper and calculator for the calculation part. Unless you are super genius, then you won't need that hohoho.
Then because of that, I thought that I won't go to the next level. Ya la siapa suruh tak siap kan? But alhamdulillah, I passed the first stage.
Second stage here we go ☺️
SECOND STAGE
Here, you will also be notified thru email by YK if you passed the previous one. I got two assessments in this stage and one of them (Cubiks) is divided into another three more tests.
- Cubiks Team Role Questionnaire
- Khazanah Cultural Reasoning Inventory (CRI)
- PAPI 3 N
- Khazanah Cultural Reasoning Inventory (CRI)
- PAPI 3 N
And the other one is Graphite test. I am so sorry guys I totally forgot what the tests are about. But if I'm not mistaken, candidates will have to take personality tests. I bet most of us have taken these tests before. The personality test will ask you to rate how accurate is the sentence given with your own style and behaviour. And there will be questions asking you with a case or critical situation and need your response or what do you think you will react to that scenario something like that. For me, I personally believed that they just wanna know your integrity and how do you deal with situation that require unbiased judgement and what not. So the trick here is to be yourself. Don't try to fake your personality. The system can detect if you are pretending to have that personality goals when actually you did not.
Just be you. If your personality doesn't suit the requirements, think positive. Maybe if you try to fake it and get accepted, you won't be able to survive because your personality is not fit enough to stand the environment. Faham ka? 😅
I think that is all. This stage is more towards getting to know your attitude. But still, the same tips applied here. Find a place where you can be calm and ready to sit for the test. And prepare everything before you get started. Eat first if you are hungry and sleep first if you feel tired. Make sure you are in the best version of you when you are planning to do the assessments. Aight?
From the email, they will guide you on how to register and complete the assignments. Don't worry too much okay? You got this. We got this!
This one is also flexible enough for you to choose when to complete it. But make sure to always aware with the dateline. Pretty sure nobody wanna miss it right? I was given a week for this one. Plan your time well and do not attempt it at the last minute.
Done. Wanna proceed with the third one?
THIRD STAGE
"Dear Candidate,
Following from the Stage 2 assessment which you have completed recently, we are pleased to inform you that you are successful to proceed to the next stage of assessment (Stage 3) which is the Online Competency Assessment called E-tray. This will be followed by the Competency Based Interview Session (CBI) with a panel of interviewers."
Imagine receiving this when you read the inbox. I feel like jumping off the cliff when I got this. I am legit happy omg.
Hahaha okay focus focus.
So as what you can read from the above statement, stage three is about this E-tray test and one-to-one interview with the panel from Yayasan Khazanah. There we go.
I
N
T
E
R
V
I
E
W.............
Chill. Inhale. Exhale. Do. Not. Panic. Fuh
Apparently this CBI session is just like a coffee talk with the panel and they'll just ask something about yourself. Why do take this foundation? Why do you choose that country? Why this why that. That's all. Nothing serious. The questions that I got were; "Why UNSW Foundation Studies", "What is your hobby?", "Which country has you been?" etc. See? Don't worry. It won't be as hard as you expected. BUT make sure you did prepare yourself for any unexpected questions and do not be over confident.
And for the graphite test, you will be assigned with this one task whereby there is a simulator that requires you to be a manager or any other position in that company and ask you to reply emails, choose an intern based on their resume and plan a proposal for the launching of product more less like that. So from here, your competency and time management skills will be measured. How you prioritise whom you should reply first. Client or your boss? Friend from other department or junior from your department? Something like that. And for the proposal, we need to propose the best place for the phone launch event and we have to state why we choose that place based on the list of options provided. For the E-tray test, you can try and practise it here. And here is the link for some tips.
There were about 20+ people when I went to the third stage. These are some of those great friends I met.
NEXT!!! 😱
FORTH STAGE
After the CBI stage, I thought that I'm not gonna make it. Everyone who came are super duper incredible. With their achievements, university admission and what not. There's this one girl, she's one year younger than me and she got an unconditional offer letter from Harvard like what?! Are you serious 😭 So freaking extra. Anyway, back to it, I feel like there's no way I can pass this stage. They are all so advanced and they really deserve this scholarship. I went back after that and told my parents about it. Rasa down dia tu macam kucing kesayangan baru mati. Serious.
Weeks passed and still no email from Khazanah. More weeks passed. Tsk tsk
I was informed that they already called the candidates for the next stage. They said it in this one online forum (lowyat, idk if you know about this but here there are a lot of discussions going on about the scholarships status. Try and google it).
I feel blank.
Legit. Blank.
T___________________T
But......................
Thanks to Allah for everything that He planned, I received an email from Khazanah a week before I fly to Melbourne. And the interview date is two days before the departure date. Alhamdulillah :')
So I went back to Mercu UEM for the second round of interview. Dengan muka penuh pengharapan dan sinar cahaya kegembiraan. Fighting!
At this stage, there were only five candidates including me. Compared to the previous one, this one is more hype. Hahaha.
For this session, it is a two-to-one interview with the panels. I had Miss Intan and Encik Kamarul whom assessing me during that time. This is more like CBI, they just asked me about myself, what is my career plan, and they also asked about my dad's dodol business lol. There's nothing much to prepare for this, just try to be as professional as you can and answer the questions with manner and smile. That is important. Both interviews lasted for about 20 minutes. Then after that you can breathe normally already 😜
I'm pretty sure you gonna enjoy this interview since both of them are so nice and very supportive. Remember, the way you answer their questions lead where the interview is going to. If you start talking abt your co-curriculum activity, they will diverge to that side. If you talk more about your passion like travelling, they can ask something about that. You choose what to tell them. Got it?
Okay end of the 4th stage.
Shall we go to the final one?
Ready?
Set
Go!
FIFTH STAGE
I can still feel the goosebumps this stage gave me. Gosh.
After three weeks in Melbourne, started my class and coping with the studies, there's this one day, I was so sleepy in the calculus class. So taknak bagi mengantuk, I chose to check on my phone. Coincidentally, the time I unlocked my phone, I received an email. From Khazanah. What is this!!!!!!!! Terus hilang mengantuk hahaha. I nearly scream in the lecture hall. Sumpah happy gila masa tu even tak dapat lagipun scholarship. Got to know that you manage to go to the final stage, it is such an honour.
Okay so the interview was the week after and I can't make it there since I have classes that time. Thus I emailed them to request for a Skype interview.
And the day came. They did informed that I need to be ready 15 minutes before. The staff will then contact me and check if everything is okay or not. So the staff called me.
"Hi"
.......
"I can't hear you" (HE SAID THIS)
And I was like wait no no. I can hear you encik. Crystal clear. Gelabah gila masa tu ya Allah. Luckily, he was so calm and tried to get me through that problem. 30 minutes after that, he still can't hear me idk why. End up, we had the interview through phone call at the same time, we were Skyping. Hahaha so cute.
For this session, it is with the Board of Directors of Khazanah Nasional. But again, worry not. They won't eat you. I promise.
The questions asked are almost similar with the previous two but this time, they did asked me, "What makes you think you will come back to work in Malaysia?" Ha masa jawab tu rasa patriotik habis la 😂 Apa apa pun, this session is shorter than the previous stages. Lega. Hehe.
The End. Fuh.
Extra:
What I find in common between these three interviews is that the panels did asked about my;
- Participation in community work or any volunteering activities.
- What will I do if I didn't get the scholarship
- "Do you have questions you want to ask us?" or "Do you have anything to say?"
Maybe you can try to prepare the answers for these kind of questions. Hope it helps and for the rest, you can try to get to know yourself better in order to answer them.
You guys okay so far?
I hope this can give you some clearer view about the flow of the process. And do not hesitate to contact me for any enquiries. I am beyond happy to help.
Good luck everyone! You can do this. Cheers.
Still goose-bumping,
Aini Syahirah.
That's really great!!
ReplyDeleteDid you finally receive the scholarship? :)
haha thanks! Yes I did. Hee
DeleteHiii kak I took the actually same course with you!! I will be having competency based interview in a few days. May I have your ins account so that I can contact you whenever I have questions? ^ ^
DeleteCoolnye Akak! Pergi melbourne sambung studies dlm bidang ape? Yayasan khazanah open for pharmacy tk kak
ReplyDeletehahaha. alhamdulillah, I'm currently doing actuarial studies. I'm not sure abt that dear. Maybe you can check on their website?
DeleteWeww I'm applying the same course right now...Kubiks mmng membantu eh risau jgk
Deletehello akak, I want to ask if there is any presentation in front of the panel of interviewers? Also, is the interview in groups or one by one? Anyways, congratulations on your success!! I wish for success in all your endeavours! :)
ReplyDeleteHi there. During my time, there was no presentation session neither individually nor in group. The interview was 1-1 for the third stage while for the forth one, there was 2 iv-ers who interviewed me. All the best to you!
Deletehonestly akak im super scared about the logiks test AAA. anyhow congrats and pls pray for me!!
ReplyDeleteI can feeeelll youu haha. anyway, worrying is good but not too much. stay calm and believe in yourself. Do your best so that whatever the result is, you know that you already give your best! Good luck mate!
Deletehi there. i would like to ask, akak apply scholarship ni guna result trial ke result spm? i got shorlisted untuk stage 1 and im suuuuuper nervous already.
ReplyDeletebeen searching people's experience on yayasan khazanah punya stages taapi mostly nampak macam yg apply guna result trial. but yours look different! so i got confused....
hahah hi dear. I used my foundation result. lol. back then when I applied, I used my first semester result, not even the final one. Then when I got my final result, I updated them during the interview. Does that answer your question? ☺️
DeleteAnyway, congratsssssssssss! haha stage 1 is doable. you'll do good insyaAllah.
hey i'm one of them too! already made it to the 2nd stage, alhamdulillah. the deadline is in 2 days and i'm still searching the internet for scholars who've shared their iv experience. so far, i haven't clearly understood how stage 2 will be like huhuhu.
DeleteHi akak, nak tanya akak ada revision apa2 ke b4 logiks test tu huu? sy dh shortlisted untuk first assessment tu yg nervous tuuu huu
ReplyDeletehi there! as mentioned in the entry above, I used this link; https://practicetests.cubiks.com/ability-tests/advanced to have some overview of the test. You can give it a try as well. Good luck!
DeleteHi Syahirah ! I wanted to know if your Stage 2 was supervised ? If so, what do I need to have ready for my computer during the exam ? Please advise. Thank you !
ReplyDeleteHi there. No it wasn't. I did it at my college's computer lab ja 😝
DeleteHi Fiona Kee, have u receive any email for Stage 2? Thanks!
DeleteHey kak! Do I need to prepare anything specifically for stage 2? And does it still consist of a maths and verbal test or only a personality type test?
ReplyDeleteif I'm not mistaken, it comprised the three of 'em. Hm, nothing much to prepare I guess haha. Just be you (as transparent as you can) when you are answering the personality test and stay precise while answering the maths and english test. I think that's all needed. All the best dear!
DeleteThank you so much and good luck in melb!
DeleteHey bro, do u remember what the stage 2 tests were called specifically?
ReplyDeleteAnd any further tips on how to prepare?
Thanks
as mentioned above under "Second Stage", these are the tests I faced in stage 2;
Delete- Cubiks Team Role Questionnaire
- Khazanah Cultural Reasoning Inventory (CRI)
- PAPI 3 N
Nothing much to prepare I can say. Maybe do some maths question if you find yourself a bit rusty. Cheers.
Hi. Congrats on getting the scholarship!! I am called to undergo Stage 2 Assessment and I would like to ask whether the maths and english test is almost the same as stage 1. Thanks:D
ReplyDeleteHi. Thank you! The maths and english test are almost the same. Good luck for the upcoming stage!
DeleteHi kak Syahirah, could you give an insight about the assessments for the third stage regarding the e-tray test and the CBI interview? Like how was the e-tray test conducted? Also were there any other tests in stage 3 apart from those two? Thanks in advance.
ReplyDeleteHi there. Basically for e-tray test, we were asked to do it on our own as in we wont be supervised while we are sitting for that test. I did mine at my college's computer lab. I found it very flexible- you can do wherever and whenever you wanna do it. As long as in it's within the time given. But make sure you fully planned and allocate plenty of time for this test. It's a lil bit time consuming because there's quite a lot of tasks need to be done. And for the CBI, it's more like getting-to-know-you session. Study a lil bit 'cause they might ask some serious questions but most of the questions I got was about my experiences and achievements etc. And during my time, it was only these two. Did I answer your question?
DeleteHi again, thank you so much for taking the time to respond and yes, you did answer my questions. Also congratulations on receiving the scholarship!! Thanks once again for your help.
Deletehi, was the 2nd stage harder than the first stage?
ReplyDeleteumm, both of them are pretty the same. Wouldn't be much different. If you find the first stage is doable, I believed the second one would be as well. All the best!
DeleteHi syahirah
ReplyDeleteDo you remember how long and how many questions were in the graphite test?
And are the cubiks tests timed or not?
hey. gosh sorry I have short term memory jkjk. Tbh I dont remember. I think it wasn't timed but if it is, there will be notice informed to you before you commence the test. and the questions are long enough so far I could recall. haha.
DeleteDear Syahirah,
ReplyDeleteI would like to know if it’s safe to be neutral for personality test ?
Thanks
hey there. Mind to define neutral in that context? 😁
DeleteAs in from scale 1-7, I choose 3/4 which is neither agree or disagree.
Delete
I see. For me, I think too much of grey area can make us look like we don't have a unique identity. And they can't really distinguish our strength and weakness which are very crucial in choosing the best candidate (I reckon). So it would be better to rate it appropriately so that the result would be much fairer for you and them.
DeleteThanks Syahirah for your advice. :)
DeleteThe key is just be me huh... :)
no worries! yup be you. Because there might be repeated questions, so if you rate it wrongly, then when the same questions came, you might choose different answer so the inconsistency will prove your attempt to not be you. Got it? 😝 You'll be fine insyaAllah. All the best dear!
DeleteGot it!! Thanks, Syahirah!! Amin! 🙏🏻
DeleteHey syahirah
ReplyDeleteDo you know what type of personality/qualities khazanah looks for?
Hi. Hm interesting question. Tbh idk what are they looking for. But I do have this some sort of guideline shared by my yk senior. try this. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1DRqlORRaytwl4U9eYuGcQTMbqIRRzABc
DeleteHey syahirah, if I’ve already applied for khazanah scholarship with my spm results and stated my preferred course of study, will i be able to change it in the future since khazanah will send me to do my a levels first?
ReplyDeleteI cant say much regarding the admin issue fyi. Perhaps you can ask the interviewer for clarification. Truly sorry for that.
Deletehi, is the stage 2 hard? I got an email saying that I passed the first stage and I'm highkey scared in case stage 2 is tricky (cubiks and graphite) because stage 1 really got me crying over the questions huhu does it have a time limit to answer the questions?
ReplyDeletehi. it's not that hard I can say. It's a little bit nervewrecking but overall, it's okay. I cant recall whether there was time limit or not. I guess there is.
DeleteGOD BLESS YOU FOR THIS OMG I WANT TO HUG YOU and hey best of luck in your studies and future!!!
ReplyDeletehahaha. thank you soooo much and you too! All the best.
DeleteAlso, were there no group interviews or presentations?
ReplyDeletenope there weren't.
Deletehow is the personality test, is it like a survey asking about us, and we juz need to rate it according to the situation?
ReplyDeletewe rate 'em ☺️
DeleteHi Syahirah ,
ReplyDeleteMay I know around when did they announced the scholarship recipient?
Thank you and congrats ❤❤
Hi there. To be frank, I dont know. So sorry for that mate :'(
DeleteHello kak syahirah, thank you so much for sharing your experience! Really calms me down when I know what to expect. I'm currently at stage 3 of the scholarship and i'm crossing my fingers real hard hoping to make it to the end!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, do you recommend me to ask the interviewers questions at the end of the interview?
DeleteOlla! OMGGGGGG NICE. How do find it so far? I would highly recommend you to ask them. Make it about your concern or perhaps just asking about some leadership bootcamp that yk is offering the scholars or what not. But either way, I personally believe you should! Good luck dear!
DeleteSo far all is going well. I just had my interview on the 2nd of May and I'm hoping I did well enough for both E-tray and the CBI so that I can go to stage 4!! Thank you for the suggestion of asking questions to the interviewer at the end of my interview. Right now, the wait for the email from yk is making me sooo nervousss
DeleteI hope so toooo! Haha dont worry too much! Stay positive hun!
DeleteHi im currently in stage 3 of the scholarship. Do you know how many ug global scholarships are given out each year?
ReplyDeletehi there. no unfortunately I dont know any admin-related issues. sorry :(
DeleteWhat kind of questions i can ask the interviewer at the end of interview. Tips pls
ReplyDelete😁😁😁
Deletefirst of all, ask what concerned you. but in case you dont have any, maybe you can ask about their modules for scholars or any graduates programme that yk might have for your course. aight?
DeleteHi Syahirah,
ReplyDeleteSorry for bothering you,I'm actually getting interviewed next Friday and I'm really really nervous.I want to ask about what questions should I ask if given the opportunity? I understand that asking questions indicates how much do I want to get the scholarship but I have no idea on what questions to ask. Looking to hearing from you soon. Thanks :)
hi there. I feeeeel you haha. anyway, ya first of all, ask what concerned you. but in case you dont have any, maybe you can ask about their modules for scholars or any graduates programme that yk might have for your course. aight?
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteOk thanks for your suggestion!😊
DeleteOh one more thing, should I ask questions when the interviewers ask whether if I have any questions, or ask questions randomly during the interview when talking about the topic related to my questions? (Sorry for the bad English :( )
It depends on the situation and your common sense haha. If you feel like it is appropriate or there is an urgency for you to know the answer, just ask. All the best!
DeleteThanks!😊
DeleteHi! just wanted to ask how long it took you for YK to reply to you on Stage 4. I’m going through the same situation as you, everyone else has been invited to stage 4 and completed it but I haven’t been rejected or invited :(((
ReplyDeleteHi syahirah
ReplyDeleteI've received an email invite me to do both stage 1 and 2
Congratulations, you have been invited to undertake the following assessment(s)for Stage 1 & 2:

ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that! Good luck to you too.
DeleteSalam akak, how long is the selection process? Also, do you have insta? xD
ReplyDeletehi! I am currently applying for yk scholarship post-spm. and I'm at the stage of writing essay. may i know, as a fresh spm leaver, do i have to explicitly explain to them about the course I'm choosing or can I make it like 5 sentences only and focus more on selling myself?? and what about that contributing to malaysia part??
ReplyDeleteHi, would like to ask is there any phone interview for khazanah scholarship?
ReplyDeleteWhat traits are they( yayasan Khazanah) looking for to become their potential scholars?
Hi kak,nak tanya.Berapa lama akak tunggu dari stage 1 pergi stage 2?😊
ReplyDeleteHi. From Stage 3 to Stage 4, how many weeks passed?
ReplyDeleteHi there. i have a question. as from your picture attached in the post, everyone is wearing blazers. is there any single soul that wear baju kurung during the interview because i'm planning to wear one. i'm more comfortable in baju kurung. thank you for your time and sorry for this silly question.
ReplyDeleteHi akak,do you think which is the best either apply for scholarship after SPM or After finish my diploma, foundation, etc..
